AC/DC Adapters

I have some electronic studio equipment like effects units, etc but
have lost the original adapters. I have a 12v 800ma rated adapter but
the unit is rated at 12v 400ma.

Would the 12v 800ma adapter work ok on this unit, or would it cause
any damage?

Regards,

Sean

yes, you got some power to spare. However make sure the output plug is
wired correctly for polarity.

Good point. One could also place a fuse in the line of the DC
output side of the unit. This would protect the circuit in use from
frying in the event of a short. That way, the "power to spare" cannot
cause damage in a failure mode. A 3/4 amp fuse should cover it, unless
600mA versions are available. :]
