Anyone know of a tool that converts VHDL to C? I know it's very doable,
but I don't want to waste my time reinventing the wheel.

The best tool (?) in this space is Carbon (http://www.carbondesignsystems.com/).
As far as I know their main market is virtual prototyping, that is, you have
some existing RTL code which you would like to add to your ESL environment
(rather than writing a model for it). I was quite impressed when I looked at it
many years ago, I suspect it is now even more polished.

I saw a reference to them while searching. When I visited their site, I
didn't see anything explicity doing what I was looking for. I will go ahead
an send an email to them asking what they offer.
