Many of you may have noticed searching newsgroups with Google search is
not the same as it was a few years ago. I don't see a way to search and
get just newsgroup results.
A search of this subject will give a lot of dissatisfied individuals.

I have ran into this which has some functionality, But I haven't
did much testing.

Go to bottom and use Usenet Power Search.

http://newsgroups.langenberg.com/
I don't see a search between these dates function.

Anyone have a method to get around the changes Goggle has made?
Or a better search engine.

Mikek

PS. Is Google the only archiver of usenet?

Even this site brings up HTTP URLs.

See any way to limit it?

Google is by far the largest but not the only one. For electronics this
works for me:
http://www.electrondepot.com/search.php
then go -> advanced and pick either the individual group you're interested
in or the whole thing. I don't see an option to limit by date tho.

Yes, and it helps that once your search is displayed, where it says
"search" to click Google Groups vs All Groups. But the results are still
not limited to newsgroups.

Thanks, but it seems to be very limited in the number of groups searched.

Yup, e.g. the Boolean NOT operator is dead.

Google's QA is non-existent; always has been.

That never has been possible.

You *used* to be able to get "Google Groups" only;
that included Google-only (Web) pages.

How about the minus operator?

For example, searching within this group, binary -clock seems to
work...

Use google groups to get to SED or whatever group you want. Eventually
you will get a page with a box to enter data and two buttons. One button
labeled "Search this group" and the other "Search Groups". Now search
groups will be a clusterfuck of all sorts of forums and usenet. But
"search this group" will just search SED or whatever.

It's still the same for me. Click more, groups, google groups. That will do
usenet only. Plus other google usenet type groups.
