That is why I suggested making one from a tube segment and a hammer
and drill. If you use brass, you wont need to chrome it. If you use
stainless, it will be difficult to fashion.

** Looks very much like steel tubing with a cooper/nickel plating.

Brass is not really strong enough.

Hobby brass tubing is also way too thin.

Why not use some 5mm
flat bar (steel) from a steel suppler and make it

** Huh ??

That ain't flat bar and it ain't 5mm.

But it would be within the ability of most people to bend flat bar and
not crack it, Tube would require a little more skill and unless done
well not be as strong. I would guess some 25x5 or possibly 19x5 would
work well.

After some research, I realised that chrome-moly (steel) was
a far better choice. Aluminum bikes WILL break under such use whereas
steel won't.

** Chrome-moly steel tubing has been used to make the fuselage framework and engine mounts for aircraft for about 100 years. It's extraordinarily strong and easily flame welded, braised or TIG welded.

The perspective is a bit off - the angles at the end are about 45 degrees.

I made this one myself out of aluminium tubing, but I've already had one
crack and break at the bend.

** BEWARE - mad pommy bitch, sickening narcissist and fug ugly nudist Sylvia Else has posted this same tripe across maybe 5 news groups.

Using GGs makes it hard for me to tell just how many.

How hard could it be ??

This is Sylvia you're talking about. She'll make 200 posts about the

Now there's a convincing argument against cross-posting!

(I was caught unaware in my earlier reply to this thread or I would have snipped out all but the
group I read.)
