Just wondering. Today, I was walking downtown and I saw an older lady
standing, fiddiling with what appeared to be an older generation iPod (a
white box about that size). As I approached, I could see tha the box was
connected via wires or tubing to some sort of clip on one side of her
nose.

I was thinking about one of those oxygen generators, but the smallest
I've ever seen was about the size of a small briefcase.

What was it?

Maybe she got into a really bad accident as a little girl and hears

through her nose?

Most likely there was a tank somewhere that you didn't see, and that was
the regulator.

Probably a "24-Hour Esophageal pH Test". You get the joy of inhaling a
probe through your nose and have a nurse "gently" shove it down your
throat. Then you walk around with this recorder and tell it when you
eat, when you feel heartburn, etc.

That has been done with a non-invasive "vest" for ~30 years.
