How to start with development for eda tools

Hi all:
I take interest in fpga/asic simulation and synthsizing, and I was
confused
by how to start in this field, and what knowledge should I know and
where and how I can get the informations about them.(such as tutorial
or some guides)

answer:

1) You make a specification
2) you write a comportementale model in vhdl/verilog or SystemC
3) you simule it to check that it's conform to the specification
4) You write the RTL model in vhdl/verilog
5) You simule it to be sure
6) You make the synthesis according to the target (fpga/asic and
manufacturer)
7) Placement/routage depend of your target
Simulation form extract data to caracterise the circuit.
