Free VHDL synthsis tools?

Hi,

Does anyone know of any free VHDL synthesis tools? Preferably part of
a suite of complete IC design tools (behavioral level simulator,
synthesizer, and place and route). I want to design for any free MOSIS
technology for my physics students.

The opencores project may have something you are looking for
(www.opencores.org).
I am using the Xilinx webpack 6.1.
