Hi,

I have a few questions about Cadence 6. I am a newbie so please bear
with me.

Ques 1 : When I create a new cell view using the Library Manager is
there a way I can specify the category ?

Ques 2: In the component browser, while inserting a new component, I
am unable to see subcategories is there a way to do that as well?

Thanks

Manu

Not right now. Please contact Cadence Customer Support and ask for an enhancement.

So does this mean you have Options->Editor->Add Instance browser Type set to
"component" rather than "library"? If you set it to "library", you can pick the
category.

Andrew.

Hi Andrew,

Thanks a lot for the input. I will pass on the suggestion to the
customer feedback people.

The option was set to component browser, that sort of fixes the
problem since setting it to Library opens up the library browser.

However for the benefit of others reading this in the future let me
elaborate the problem :

When I set it to component browser , I see categories for a library
but not the sub-categories , for example Say I have a library DAC,
which has categories ( Test_ckts , Circuits ) and say Circuits
category has two subcategories ( analog and digital) . When I am on
the component browser and select DAC library I will get Test_ckts and
Circuits as options however when I select Circuits I will not get the
subcategories (analog and digital) instead I will get all the
components contained in them. I think i will suggest this too the
customer care guys since opening up the library browser seems a little
bit of an overkill.

Thanks a lot for the help.

Hey Andrew,

On second thoughts there are a lot of improvements in UI that I would
love to suggest to cadence people, thanks for the idea, will do so.
