They're just fascinated with all the grunting that engineers do when
they meet women. They want to understand 'The Knack'. ;-)

I am looking for an impedance matching transformer that will convert
the 50 Ohm output of my function generator and to a 1K Ohm resistive
load.

That provides a 20x step-up as well, so with losses 10V yields maybe
100V.

Frequency range is anywhere between 200KHz to 2MHz. Required current,
up to 20mA.

I would definitely prefer a ready-made transformer. Does anyone know
under what application heading one might be found?

Paul Jackson
If you want 20 ma at 100 volts, I don't think you generator will supply
the power you need.
If the generator supplies 10V into 50 ohms that is 20 ma.
200 mA, short-circuit current.

Hi John,
Oh, redid the math. You're right Smile
Mikek

I have this background thing that runs in the back of my head and
checks the math on everything. ...

Careful. That can quickly ruin an engineer's marriage. There are things
that are better left non-calculated :-)

My wife is a speech pathologist, and has phenomenal language and
people skills. SPs tend to marry engineers, to do the grunt work for
them. Maybe they feel sorry for us, too.

So do nurses (my wife's original background before she went into
industry). She said she vowed not to marry an engineer and then ...

My wife has a nursing degree, though she got it after we were married. She's
never used it, since the kid came along a couple of months after she
graduated.

One thing I learned lately: Do not question the price of a hand bag :-)

Oh, I always do. I don't care but I always question it. She pays me back
when I buy tools. ;-)

I do the cooking that involves any serious time:temperature profiles.

I used to cook my own elaborate meals every day while at university,
didn't like any of the cantina foods there. Since my wife is much better
in that department my cooking duties is now reduced to Sat/Sun,
barbecue. But then everything is cooked outside, meat, vegetables,
pizza, bread, potatoes, whatever she hands me.

I can't stand cooking. Since I'm by myself four nights a week, meals are
pretty monotonous.

Guys just eat ribs and Scoops over the sink. It just takes a minute.

Speak for yourself. I can't stand that greasy crap, unless I need to
vomit.

So, do women who marry successful engineers have "Great Knackers"?

(I pronounce that like "Knackwurst")

You mean ain't going back to the old method using the kitchen oven? I
ain't going back to that either, from here on it's always the barbecue.
Same for turkey, BTW. We haven't made one in the kitchen oven in about a
decade.

Not if they discover what 'The Knack' really is, before it's too
late. ;-)
